- חֲצִינָא, חֲצֵינָאm. (חצי) carpenters adze, also pick-axe or spade (v. Sm. Ant. s. v. Dolabra). Targ. Is. 44:12 (h. text מעצד); a. e.Sabb.123b ח׳ דנגרי carpenters adze. B. Bath.73b נפל ליה ח׳וכ׳ Ms. M. a. Ar. (ed. חציצא) a carpenter lost his adze there. Erub.77b, v. מָרָא II; a. e.Pl. חֲצִינֵי. B. Kam. 119b באתרא … תרי ח׳וכ׳ in the place of our Tanna (in the Mishnah) there are two ḥătsiné a large one called כשיל (axe), and a small one called מעצד (adze). Yoma 37b; Bets.33b, v. נַרְגָּא.
